[Fair is fair]

I’ve received some complaints from my LSU friends and family about parity.  So here’s a more fair and balanced solution:

If Florida wins this boring game, I will proudly wear my Gator shirt to Chimes at LSU on Monday.

If LSU wins this yawnfest matchup, I will humbly wear this monstrosity provided by my sister-in-law, the LSU grad in the family.

Pictures will of course be provided.  now, GO GATORS!

[LSU Tigers - this week’s Gator Bait]

LSU, I will be visiting your campus next week, for the first time ever, on my road trip back from Texas.  Please be advised:  If we manage to pull out this win, I will be visiting The Chimes proudly wearing a Gator shirt.  Mhmm.  Gauntlet?  Thrown.

In the meantime, enjoy the games this weekend, gameday stylists.  Lots of good SEC matchups!  I’ll be glued to my TV for the Florida vs. LSU game, then watching Steve throw his visor during the South Carolina vs. Georgia game.

[make-up party]

I recently had some friends over for a girls weekend and in typical fashion, we borrowed each other’s clothes, jewelry, and make-up…just like a true slumber party!  Best part is, I discovered some new lovelies that I wanted to share with ya’ll.  Pillow fight!!!

NARS LARGER THAN LIFE LIP GLOSS - ROUGE TRIBAL

NARS Rouge Tribal Larger Than Life Lipgloss

Since the dark lip look is back, I had the opportunity to try this new NARS lip gloss in Rouge Tribal and MAN is it fantastic!!!  It’s the perfect “metallic burgundy” that is oh-so-chic right now without making you feel like an angry goth.  [TIP: Wear with minimal makeup as the color is intense]

MAYBELLINE VOLUM’EXPRESS MEGA PLUSH MASCARA

Maybelline Volum' Express The MegaPlush Washable Mascara, Blackest Black

I am a total mascara connoisseur and thought that Maybelline’s Great Lash was their best effort.  Au contraire, mes soeurs.  This mascara made my lashes look boombastic and I only needed one coat!  The brush is very full and the shape allows you to really get in there and go from root to tip.  Fab.

GRAY SKINNY JEANS

These jeans go with absolutely ANYTHING and are lightweight, stretchy, and can be worn year-round.

AROUND THE WAY GIRL EARRINGS

I have a pair of similar hoops and no joke, they are the most sought-after item of jewelry I own.  My friends ooh and ahh over them and I’ve lent them out countless times!  Unfortunately, for the life of me, I cannot remember where I got them but these are pretty similar and the price is right.

[Friday Fancies]

We are headed to Gainesville this weekend to see the Gators take on Kentucky! After the amazing time we had last weekend in Knoxville, I cannot wait :) I’m also bringing along my friend Kathleen this weekend for her first Gator football experience so that should be fun!

More exciting news is that this week we’re participating in Friday Fancies with Alison from {Long Distance Loving}. Her blog is amazing - it is a combination of fashion & lifestyle plus stories of couples who are doing the long distance thing. As a long distance relationship survivor (dramatic enough for you?) I love to hear all the stories of couples making it work! This week Friday Fancies is “Who’s Your Team?” well obviously we had to choose the Gators. So check out the orange and blue outfit we put together. I know that Kentucky colors are blue & white but I felling in love with this dress from the GAP and am having a serious challenge finding clothes I like in orange lately. I think by layering on as many orange accessories as a girl can find it will be clear we are Gator fans :)

1. Pop Knot Studs / 2. Coral Princess Bib / 3. Striped Ponte Zip Shift / 4. Royal Pave Wrap / 5. Pumpkin Bar Wrap / 6. Tangerine Toms / 7. Booker Buckle Boots

P.S. Check out some Gator Bloggers we found here, here, and here.

[gameday hearts]

Hope ya’ll had a great week!  Here are some things we’re loving right now:

  • Weather is getting slightly cooler here in Hotlanta so I’m tipping my hat to my 3 favorite things about Fall:
     1) Boots
     2) College Football
     3) PSLs
  • The 90’s are back? - Miley is attempting to dress grunge.  Sam & Libby-esque shoes are back in style.  AND, most importantly, I’m going to see Eddie freakin’ Vedder this weekend, ya’ll!!!  #teenagedreamrealized
(sidenote: When I told Sara I was excited to see Pearl Jam, she looked at me blankly.  I’d never felt the four year difference between us until then.  Guess Pearl Jam wasn’t as cool in the ’00s as they were in the 90’s!)
  • Fall TV is back.  Huzzah!  What shows are you watching?  I’m excited for the return of “New Girl” (Schmidt!!!), “Revenge”, “Modern Family” and for the debut of “The Mindy Project”.
  • Speaking of TV, is it just me or did the Emmys sneak up on us this year?  Regardless, I’m looking forward to the fashion parade.  According to the fashion pundits, we should see lots of bright colors (blues and purples, especially), lace, and white.
  • Line forms behind me, ladies
  • Amazing Kate look-alike!

No worries, we’re here to take care of you and show you how to beat the heat and still look fashionable.  [NO JORTS ALLOWED!]   Please dress to impress as Sara will be visiting the Florida for her sartorial roadshow.

[shopping etiquette 101]

Ahh shopping.  It is sooo easy nowadays to do all of your shopping online.  It’s uber convenient and a huge time-saver.  BUT, you just can’t beat a trip to a shiny store full of gorgeous displays, mirrored fitting rooms, and outfit possibilities as far as the eye can see.  Plus, there’s always the potential to find a total steal on the sales rack.

Which got me thinking about Shopping Etiquette 101.  Here are some tips for following the rules of the game.  Gather round, shall we?

  1. Please peruse the clothes from L to R.  This is just basic shopping etiquette.
  2. If you decide to start looking in the middle of the rack, same rule applies, proceed R, then double-back to the beginning.
  3. If you join a rack where someone is already looking on your R, proceed at THEIR pace.  However, if their pace is g-l-a-c-i-a-l and you see a really really cute top further down, you may leapfrog over them and continue down the rack ahead of them, as long as you do not disturb or impede their progress.
  4. If you are going R to L, regardless of whether you were there first, when that awkward moment comes when you meet in the middle, you should leapfrog with minimal disturbance to the others’ search.
  5. DO NOT shove the rack of clothes in their direction, thus interrupting their process. This drives me bananas and I have been known to angrily shove the clothes back.  Take THAT, grandma!
  6. Totally shop the go-back rack from the fitting room.  If you get lucky and find your size, it’s like having your own personal shopper who’s already done all the scavenging for you!

PET PEEVES

  1. People who shove hangers at me.  Please see #5 above.  Zero tolerance.
  2. Employees straightening before store is closed. - I get it dude.  I did my time at The Limited and couldn’t wait to straighten and get the eff out of there too.  So, I will carefully move the clothes as gently as I can but if I need to get a better look, you better believe I’m shoving these hangers to the side.  Keep the dirty looks to yourself, bro.
  3. Employees who either don’t take my hangers OR take my hangers the first time and then ignore me.  Again, as a former Limited employee, this is an offense.

Any shopping etiquette tips or pet peeves to share?  I’m pretty sure this is going to be a series as I have 4389048304980 more.  Happy shopping!
